He doesn't know who is planning to kill and who isn't, aside from Mai and Luke. He's not even sure if he's planning to. That can come later.
Right now, he's going to sit with his back to a tree and rest. He may have only released himself for a few minutes, but, assuming he's relatively safe right now, he needs to recover while he's got the time. The other thing he needs to do is look over his spoils.
...Basic school supplies. That feels like they're being made fun of. Dried jerky and water, some kind of ointment - medicine?, a map, a compass, useful. ...Scratch the last one, the compass has four arrows, but no indication which one is supposed to be north. Well then. Maybe it'll be better to travel by night. As for the food he grabbed, looks like a...lot of dried apple slices and a twelve-pack of instant noodles? Could be worse...]
