Round 1 - Preparation Stage
Introduction
There was a drum roll and as you entered into this world. You are surrounded by cheering crowds, bright lights and cameras. You have just been announced as a tribute for a specific district and this begins your adventure into the Games Arena.
There is a lot to do before the Arena opens. The audience must be informed of all your vital stats so they can place their bets. Are you going to win because you're the strongest? Are you going to win because you're sneaky and smart? You won't see any of that however. The next few weeks are going to be filled with the following:
[Please thread below in any or all of the locations. It would help if the subject of the top level comment could list where the tribute is just so it makes it easier for other characters to tag in.]
Training Arena
There is everything that you could ever need in the training area. There are teachers around 24/7 who will be more than happy to teach you the skills needed in the Arena.
Such as: hunting, wilderness survival, tying knots, camouflage, botany, weapons use, general fitness experts and anything else you believe may be required.
It might save your life to go to at least one of these tutorials. There are also gyms and equipment which will help you focus on specific skills such as climbing, swimming and anything you may think of.
In this Training Arena, you will have access to any weapons your character may have back home in canon. They will only be available in the training arena so you must leave them behind when you leave here and when you make your way to the arena.
There are also public and private training facilities so you can choose whether you want to show everyone your skills or hide everything until the arena stage.
Rule: Any tributes that physically attack each other before entering the arena will be punished upon the games beginning. This is announced to the tributes as they are released to their own devices.
Publicity Shoots
It is up to your prep team to make sure the public love you. That's what they get paid for. As Battle Royale is school themed, you will be taking lots of school based photo shoots in the following uniform:

Look familiar? Well, in this game it doesn't matter whether you're in the white or black uniform so take your pick at whatever you think will look nicer. These will be the uniforms that you enter the arena in. This may be your last chance to look pretty and your last chance to be remembered.
Private Dorms
At the end of each day, you have your own room to retire back to. Each district has an entire floor to themselves and each floor has two giant dorm rooms.
There is room service for each dorm room and you can order whatever you want. Really, anything. You're about to go to your death so you might as well enjoy the remainder of your life. You are free to go to each other's rooms if you want to visit. Make friends, make enemies, or scout out your competition.
These rooms are state of the art. You have a large shower where it feels like the water is coming from multiple directions and a range of fancy soaps, shampoos etc. You can even choose to have a bubble bath if you want. The bed is large and covered with the blankets and sheets your character most adores. There is also a giant wardrobe with any outfit you would like to wear available at a touch of a button.
Each tribute will also have 2 avoxes following them around when they are in the private dorm area to get them whatever they need and clean up after them.
Private Social Area
There is a living space with games, other hobbies and an eatery for people who don't want to eat in the solitude of their dorms. But why aren't you in the training hall trying to make sure you stay alive in the arena? This is where you'll find out the gossip of where you are, what's going on. You can speak to your prep team to learn about why you're here, what your role is and the fact that you're probably going to be dead in a month. And probably at the hands of the person eating at the next table and smiling innocently at you.
Other
You are welcome to create anywhere else you want to be. Want to watch a movie? Go ahead. Want to visit a library? Yeah sure. The Game Creation team have designed a little city for you to play in before you enter the Arena so if you are certain that an extra day in the training facility won't make you live much longer anyway? Might as well go out and enjoy yourself. It's on me.
Note: Wherever you are or whatever you're doing, there is a chance that your actions will probably get broadcasted to the public on TV.

[Nepeta's just been crouching in the back, making sure she already knew all of these tricks before she dismisses it out of paw, but this poor girl just really seems not to be getting it, and that's kind of pathetic. Nepeta inches closer, though she stays out of arm's reach. Can't be too careful. Nervous, she slips into old habits.]
AC stretches her paws out and kneads the floor warily before the stranger, uncertain of her pawsition. "Do you need help?" she asks, puffing herself up just a little to look bigger.
no subject
Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't notice you there...
[To be honest, a fire breathing dragon could have been back there and she most likely would not have noticed. She was so distracted.]
It's just hard trying to learn things right now...
no subject
[She hesitates, then rubs her arm, breaking character.]
It's furry strange here, and I...I'm worried about a friend.
no subject
You talk...different. But I would be glad to have somebody to talk to. I'm worried about a friend here too but I haven't been able to speak to him yet.
[She pulls the flame retardant mat onto the ground with the piles of sticks and twigs so they could get comfortable and at least appear like they're being productive while learning things.]
My name's Mai.
no subject
[Biting her tongue a little so the tip of it sticks out, she just ducks her head and starts sorting through the sticks, selecting the best dry pieces and starting to shred one of them into fine tinder.]
Which one is your friend?
no subject
No, it's okay. You can keep talking like that if that makes you feel better.
I don't know if he knows I'm here because me announcement was made before his. Micchy...
[She pauses to watch what Nepeta is doing with the sticks before she realizes the name she used probably doesn't mean a thing.]
Mitsuzane...he came from my home world. What about you? Is your friend from home too...?
no subject
[She keeps scraping her wood into tinder fibers, shredding and softening with just her hands, buffing the fibers so smaller particles and strands fall off.]
Karkat Vantas. He's the other Tribute in my...District? I don't know what that means.
no subject
There's...12 districts in this world. Apparently, a war happened a long time ago or something and this is some yearly event to remind the people what it's like to lose loved ones in battle. How we're involved now...I don't know. I think, from what my prep team have been saying...it's been a long time since then and it's turned into some weird reality show that people all over the universe watch.
I've never heard of it. They told me that I should listen to what they say because the more these...viewers like us...the more help we get ... ...out...out there.
[She faltered for a moment, not really wanting to talk about the out there]
Did something happen between you and your friend..?
no subject
[And he thinks she's stupid, and he'd never give her the time of day if he didn't absolutely have to. She's positive about this.]
But no, I think I understood most of that stuff about the game. Me and my friends, we're all very good at games, even if this one is strange and incompurrhensible in parts. I just...
[She sighs and looks up from where she was starting to build something like a bird's nest out of the larger tinder fibers.]
What's a district? Is it like a hemocaste?
no subject
I'm not sure what a hemocaste...is? But my team showed me a map earlier and it's like this world is separated into 12 little areas that don't really get along too well together. Each separated area is called a district.
[She stands up for a moment and goes over to one of the other areas and comes back with a small tray full of sand. A few moments later, she has used one of the sticks to draw out what she can remember of the map she was shown. Talking about this was much better than talking about the "game".]
no subject
[As she takes a pause from her tinder-bundle building, she wrinkles her nose in approbation.]
So it's...a geografurcal distinction. That's so strange! See, I thought, since there are twelve of them, they'd be something more like how we're divided by blood color, but I suppawse that isn't the case.
[Nepeta sets the ball of tinder down and starts building the structure for the fire, making a pyramid out of the best sticks.]
You'll want to make sure you're using dry wood for this, you know. Otherwise it won't catch fire at all no matter how hard you try.
no subject
Thank you...for helping me.
[She didn't want to put herself out there as a "target"...appearing weak. But general chitchat is great...keeping her mind off what's going to happen is the best she can do now.]
Your home is divided by blood colour? I've never heard of that before. Is it a bad kind of divide or are you all still friends?
no subject
[She sits back from her little stick pyramid and spreads her hands.]
I'm an oliveblood! That puts me purrty near the middle of the hemospectrum. But my moirail, he's a blueblood, and that means he's suppawsed to be...[She makes a face.]...better than me, whatefur that means. And he didn't appurrve of me associating with trolls with redder blood than me because they're lower in the order. Does that make sense?
no subject
Getting separated and ranked depending on what colour you're born with doesn't sound like a very nice way to live. So your friend...is different to you?
no subject
[She's got Karkitty's back. In the meantime, she busies her hands again looking for a larger, curved piece of wood, not quite as try as what she's using for the fire itself.]
The lowest is rust and the highest is fuchsia. That's the color of the Empurress. Humans don't have this at all? Also, do you have a shoelace?
no subject
[That was probably the easiest way for her to describe home in a nutshell. The next question makes her pause.]
You mean...
[She shifts a bit and sits with her legs out in front of her now, pointing down to her shoes.]
...these shoelaces?
[She could easily spare them if that was the case. These shoes are practically molded to her feet and it seems there were an endless supply of them back in her dorm.]
no subject
Yes! Those would be purrfect. If you don't mind, that is.
[She smiles.]
I'm making a fire bow. It'll be easier on your hands than trying to generate enough furriction manually, if you're not used to this sort of work!
no subject
[She pulled one knee up to her chest and it took her a few moments to undo the lace and pull it out of her shoe. Then for good measure, she pulled up her other leg to do the same. It would probably be better to get some hands on experience of her own. She hands one of the laces over.]
How do you know how to do this...?
no subject
[Nepeta strings the shoelace to either end of her bow, smiles a little wistfully, and then twists the lace around the stick she's chosen for fire-starting purposes. She then looks for, and then chooses, a stone.]
You have to press down on the stick or else it will simply flop all ofur the place. This keeps it steady, see?
[She uses the stone to dig a divot into one more piece of wood, places the stick into the divot, holds the rock on top to keep it steady, and then starts to saw away with the bow, sort of like the kind of bow you'd use on a violin.]
Let me know when you want a turn, Mai!
no subject
Thank you...for sharing this with me.
[...since they weren't going to be...friends for this long. She takes a breath and then smiles again, pushing those feelings back down once more.]
I would...like to have a go. At least try to light one fire with my own hands. It'll be a new experience.
no subject
Okay! Get ready to grab the bow and start sawing right away, okay? You'll have to be really fast!
[She scoots over a little so Mai has better access, then starts to count down.]
Three...two...one...go!
[She lets go of the bow but holds the stone steady, at least, so that Mai only has to snatch up one thing at a time.]
no subject
Just had to keep her mind on this task and not think about what's coming. But this sawing motion was definitely requiring more stamina than her arms were used to.]
Is this really going to work?!
[There was a little happy lilt in her voice as she said that since a small puff of smoke was beginning to show itself. If only she could just...keep this up a mite longer.]
no subject
[In the meantime, Nepeta retrieves the tinder bundle and crouches so she can watch Mai's progress without getting ashy sawdust all in her eyes. Oh--there, is it done?]
Okay, stop!
[She holds one hand up but keeps her eyes on the little ember, and starts to gently fan it with her hand.]
You don't want to blow on it while you're still all out of breath, see? So just flap your paw at it like this.
no subject
We...that's a fire...?
[She lightly also flaps along to try and push this into a full blown flame. It's the little things she has right now keeping her going and as far as that goes, this is definitely at the top of her list.]
This is...amazing!
no subject
[When the ember seems stable enough, Nepeta coaxes it into the softest part of the tinder bundle and blows on it carefully, inviting it to catch and grow until the bundle starts to smoke in her hands.]
Now we're getting somewhere. See how you have to do it in steps? A teensy spark can't sustain itself on those big, hard scratching posts, so we have to feed it little by little like this.
[When the fire seems to be getting along well enough, she sets it under the stick teepee so it can really get going.]
